Upgrading Out-of-Date Schools
Five of the schools in our District are more than 50 years old, and a majority of our schools don’t even meet South Carolina’s 2000 building codes for safety.
This November’s School Improvement referendum will allow us to make significant improvements to schools in the District – making for a better, safer learning environment for our students. Plans include:
- a new elementary school to relieve overcrowded conditions at Carver and Delmae Elementary schools
- a new Delmae Elementary
- a new elementary on US 327 to replace Wallace-Gregg and Timrod Elementary schools
- a new Royall Elementary
- a new North Vista Elementary
- a new Southside Middle
- a total renovation of Williams Middle
- an additional new middle school on the westside of town to relieve overcrowding at Sneed Middle School.
This referendum will allow Florence District One to renovate the most needy school facilities. With $125 million devoted to new facilities, money currently designated for the renovated schools will be freed up to service and upgrade other schools in the district. When we Vote Yes, every school benefits.
